RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST FOR WEEKEND CAMPOUT
Equipment For All Campouts
Sleeping bag (rated for at least 30 degrees) Must be in a stuff sack or
compression sack!
Small flashlight, extra batteries and spare bulb
Eating equipment (Plate, bowel, cup, knife, fork & spoon) Plastic is
best. Make sure it’s marked.
One (1) troop approved equipment bag. All gear must fit in the one bag.
Compass (Optional)
Toilet kit (Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, pack of diaper wipes, washcloth)
Note pad & pen/pencil
5-6 Matches (water proof or in a water proof container)
Tape/CD players are allowed with earphones during very limited times
Camera
SCOUT BOOK!!!!!
Book or magazine
Knife (tote’n chip required) Folding pocket knives only
Small folding stool
Medication (Needs to be turned over to a leader)
Clothing For Warm Weather Camping (Over 40 Deg.)
Scout Shirt
Stout shoes
Light weight hat
T-shirts should be scout related. If they are not scout related, follow
school rules for what is printed on them.
Shorts
Complete change of clothes with at least two (2) pairs of socks
Rain gear (Army surplus ponchos are a good buy)
Light jacket (red nylon goes well with uniform)
Sweatshirt or sweater
Equipment For Warm Weather
Sun screen
Bug spray
Water bottle
Sun glasses
Air mattress or sleeping pad
Clothing For Cold Weather Camping (Below 40 Deg.)
Uniform shirt
Warm coat
Knit cap
Sweater or sweatshirt
For very cold weather you will need enough clothing to dress in several
light layers.
Long underwear
Rain gear including rubber boots
Change of clothes including at least two (2) pairs of wool or heavy
synthetic socks.
Stout leather shoes
Gloves (Mittens are best)
Equipment For Cold Weather Camping
Lightweight Blanket to use as a liner for your sleeping bag
Sleeping pad (High density rubber pads insulate you from the cold ground
better than an air mattress)
Equipment NOT Allowed
Extra food or drinks
Televisions and electronic games
Cots
