Mackinac

Every summer around the 4th of July Troop 623 is the sponsoring troop for the South West Michigan Council's Governors Honor Guard.

Throughout the Summer months various Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups spend one week on Mackinac Island as the Governors Honor Guard.   This involves working as information information providers for tourists and at least one service project.  There is also plenty of free time to relax and explore the island.

The Governors Honor Guard is open to scouts of  first class rank and higher.  Many boys return year after year for this rewarding trip.  After three years of service the scouts earn a knot to be worn on there uniform.
